One
thing I love
to do as
a makeup
artist but
also as a
woman is
to go through
cosmetic
bags and
drawers to
see just
what products
you are holding
on too and
why. How
many "mistake" purchases
are lying
in there?
How many
eye shadow
quads are
sitting there
untouched
because you
swore you
would be
able to duplicate
the "look" the
gal at the
cosmetic
counter created
for you and
then you
bring it
home, toss
it in the
drawer of
no return
and there
it sits until
that special
occasion
rolls around
but by then
you have
completely
forgotten
what to do
with it.
The best
is really
old makeup
that you
spent a pretty
penny on
and you cannot
bear to toss
it. Well,
guess what
- toss it,
ladies! Let
me help you
stream line.
Let me show
you how to
use what
you already
own. Let
me help you
plug in the
missing elements
of a good
makeup system.
The way we
purge our
wardrobes
each season,
we must also
develop the
same approach
to our cosmetics.
So here are
some parameters
to consider: |
1. If you have
not used it in
1 year , toss
it
2. Sniff everything
and toss anything that
smells like it has "turned".
3. Toss brushes that
are loosing their bristles.
Expiration dates on used
products:
liquid foundations
- 1 year
lip stick - 1-2 years
mascara - 3-4 months
powder - 2 years
shadow - 2 yrs
brushes - wash gently
once a month
sponges - use and discard
after each use
finger tips - No expiration
date! Always your best
tool!
Mineral makeup does not
harbor bacteria so tends
to have a longer shelf
life. However, unclean
brushes and sponges do
harbor bacteria so they
must be cleaned on a
regular basis or in the
case of disposable sponges
tossed after each use,
This is particularly
important if you have
issues with acne. |
